Here are some of the symptoms of dry eye:
- Stinging and burning eyes
- Scratchy, gritty feeling or foreign body sensation
- Strings of mucus present in or around your eyes
- Red or irritated eyes (especially when you are in the wind or near cigarette smoke)
- Contact lens wear is painful
- Teary eyes
Having a lot of tears in your eyes with “dry eye” might sound out of place but your eyes produce more tears when they try to compensate the irritation caused by dry eye.
